Happy Birthday Baby!

Wow, where has the time gone? Today B. turns 2 years old. She's acting more and more grown up every day, follows in her big sisters footsteps with every move she makes. Loves princesses, Curious George, and Elmo. And melts my heart when she sings Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.

Here are a few images I took of her a few days ago- her offical 2 year session.

When I pulled this last one up, it immediately reminded me of this one I took of her in the tutu from when she was 4 months old. It's still one of my favorites of her, I love that pouty little lip.

In only a year

I photographed these 2 cuties last year at about this time, and then again today. I love this part of my job, being able to watch as all these kids grow up right before my eyes!

Booked

Well, it's official- the remainder of 2006 is booked up for Blessings Photography. However, if you have a baby under 2 weeks old that you'd like to get in for a newborn session OR if you have contacted me previously expressing your interest in a session for November or early December- please call or email me and I will see if I can do anything to fit you into my schedule.

Thank you to everyone who has scheduled sessions during this very busy time of year, I look forward to working with each and every one of you!

Two

(Have you ever looked at a very common word and it looks so odd to you? I wrote the word "two" up in my title and then it looked so weird I actually had to use spell checker on it, cause I couldn't figure out how those letters could possibly be pronounced that way. Oy- does that mean it's going to be one of those days?!?)

Anyway, back on to the subject. This little guy gave his Mom, Grandma, and me quite a workout. He wasn't thrilled about getting his picture taken at first, but as usual- by the end of the session he was having fun. He even decided it would be ok to hop up and ride the rocking horse that his Grandpa made for him.

Tiny and Fresh

This little guy came in this afternoon for his first portrait session, at 2 weeks old. He was one of the most content newborns I've seen, and even gave a couple smiles!

Remembering Our Babies

Very few of you know this, but I was pregnant with our 3rd child earlier this year, and then had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks in July. Everything seemed to be going fine, I was able to see the hearbeat on ultrasound at 7 weeks. But then at my 10 week appointment, there was no longer a heartbeat. We were of course saddened by the news, but at the same time took comfort in knowing that our baby was in heaven and some day we will meet him or her.

While going through this experience- talking with others and doing some research, and also through my work with the Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep organization, I found out that unfortunately miscarriages and even stillbirths are a lot more common than many people realize. It's not often talked about, which is one reason I wanted to write about it here.

Today is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, which is on Oct. 15th of every year. This day is to promote Support, Education and Awareness for grieving parents nationwide (and worldwide).

Beauty

This adorable 4 year old came in for portraits this afternoon. She was so sweet- shy at first, but was having a lot of fun by the time we were done. I was excited when her mom requested to do some black on black shots. It's not often I get a chance to do those with kids over the age of 6 months, so it was a nice change up.
